If your certificate was issued in another EU country, Regulation (EU) 2016/1191 can make things much simpler. Public documents such as marriage and birth certificates no longer need an Apostille, and you can often ask the issuing office for a multilingual standard form, which in many cases means no translation is needed at all.
It does not apply to every document or every office, so before you order anything we check with you which certificate to request and whether a translation is still required.
Still planning your wedding? All the paperwork is explained on our wedding paperwork page, and if one of you does not speak Italian, here is how a wedding interpreter works.
