Lucca is one of the very few medieval cities that completely saved its surrounding protective walls. Even if they lost their military importance, they became a pedestrian promenade which encircled the old town, although they were used for a number of years in the 20th century for racing cars. They are still fully intact today; each of the four principal sides is lined with a different tree species.
Lucca is obviously famous for its Duomo (Cathedral) and the “piazza dell’anfiteatro” where acoustic is so perfect that it is used in summer for open air concerts. But Lucca is also famous for the many villas surrounding it. You can find special luxury villas in the Lucchesia (Lucca region) that are perfect for small and private ceremonies or even big events where the wedding couple will feel like Queen and King and will be able to offer a unique stay a very exclusive area of Tuscany. Some villas in this area are allowed to host legally binding wedding IN VILLA, unlike most of the cities in Italy. From Lucca you can also go to Viareggio and have there the perfect locations for a wedding by the sea or on a top floor terrace overlooking the Mediterranean see.
